Overview
Allen Systems' MICRO LAB-51 board uses either the 89S8252 or 89S53 MCU with on-chip Flash. The 89S8252 has 8K bytes of FLASH, and 2K bytes of EEPROM. The 89S53 has 12K bytes of Flash and no EEPROM. An important feature of the 89S family is that the Flash and EEPROM are serially programmable.

This option for the MICRO LAB-51 board supports serial programming of either the 89S8252 or 89S53. It includes a cable which connects the parallel port on a host PC to a 10 pin header on the board. A 3.5 inch disk contains the necessary software. It contains two MS-DOS programs: an install utility, and the programming software. The install utility is used to specify details about the host PC. The programming software performs the programming operation.
